Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Detroit

Richard Walawender

Richard Walawender was appointed Honorary Consul of Poland in Detroit in 2018. The appointment marks the first time in nearly 70 years that Detroit has been home to a Polish consulate.

The appointment was made by Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. His territory covers the State of Michigan and is within the jurisdiction of Poland’s General Consulate of Chicago.

Mr. Walawender received his Bachelor's and Law Degrees from the University of Michigan.
